Role

Full Interior Fit-Out of Joinery Package

Project Overview

We were appointed to deliver a comprehensive joinery fit-out for a new retail unit in Kingston Upon Thames, transforming the space from a bare 'white box' shell to a fully functional, customer-ready interior. The works included bespoke counters, laminated flooring, integrated shelving, and custom-built seating booths.

Client Objectives

The client required a fast and high-quality transformation of the empty unit into a stylish, functional cafe that aligned with their brand and customer experience goals. Key objectives included:

  • A full interior fit-out, ready for store opening within 4 weeks
  • Durable, high-traffic flooring and materials to withstand daily retail use
  • Seamless integration of counters, seating, and display shelving
  • Coordination of works to align with electrical, branding, and equipment installations

Scope of Works

As the joinery contractor, we were responsible for the full package from fabrication to final installation, including:

  • Custom counters and service desks built to precise brand specifications
  • Laminated flooring installation across the entire retail floor
  • Built-in seating booths, designed for both comfort and durability
  • Display shelving and integrated storage units

Challenges

  • White box condition: The space started as a blank canvas, requiring close collaboration with other contractors and trades
  • Brand consistency: All joinery items had to meet strict design and finish guidelines to reflect the client's visual identity
  • Multi-use space: The layout needed to balance customer flow, staff efficiency, and aesthetic appeal

Solutions

  • Fast-tracked joinery production: All units were prefabricated off-site to reduce on-site time and ensure quality control
  • Detailed coordination: We worked closely with M&E, signage, and fit-out teams to avoid clashes and streamline the build schedule
  • Durable materials: We selected high-grade laminates and hardwood cores to ensure longevity in a retail environment

Results

The project was completed on time and to a high standard, transforming the white box unit into a warm, inviting, and fully branded space ready for operations. The custom joinery elements helped create a unique and cohesive customer experience, while also providing practical durability for daily use.

The client was highly satisfied with the quality, speed, and finish, and the space is now successfully operating as a key destination in Kingston Upon Thames.
